Autumn
has its own group of flowering shrubs; hardier
plants, and heathers which are at their best at
this time of year, and at Windmill Farm’s Outdoor living centre,
you’ll find the perfect planter to show them off...
Your lawn would also benefit from a light dusting of fertilizer
mid autumn, and winter pansies can be planted out
early in the season for late autumn show, but leave a space for
a few late plantings of very early spring bulbs. The two look great
together. Harvest time is just the excuse to stock up on plenty
of autumn food, from Windmill’s great range, like cauliflower,
cabbage and brussel sprouts to name but a few. Don’t
forget the pumpkins for Halloween!
Your garden will benefit from preparations for winter weather by
securing or replacing fencing, stakes for trees
and any damaged tree limbs should be removed; preventing further
damage when the winter winds do blow.
Later in autumn is the time to plant spring bedding plants,
wallflowers, polyanthus, forget-me-nots, primroses, etc. As usual,
dig well and add plenty of fertiliser.
